Happy Tails, Liberty and Baloo

Wayne and I adopted Liberty and Baloo in December 2009.  They have been great dogs.  Most recently, they have been going with me for bike rides (they run along side) in a nearby cemetery.  They are learning how to turn and stay behind the front wheel so they can anticipate the direction.

Baloo loves everybody and everybody loves him.  Liberty is still a little fearful, but once she masters a new skill, she is very proud.  She likes to “pretty beg” (see the picture).  Most recently, she learned to go up and down stairs.

Every day they seem to thank me for their new home and I thank them.  I sleep better at night knowing they are watching for me.  Thanks so much for our dogs!

Happy Tails, Henry

Henry is doing great!!  As you can see from the photo, all my grandchildren love him.  He is a great fit for our household.  We have him in obedience training and we are making progress.  Thanks for all that you do for these great dogs.

Happy Tails, Birdie (FKA Louise)

I wanted to update you on “Louise”, now known as Birdie!  We have had a wonderful weekend with her and just love her already!  She is so well behaved and loving.  Boy, does she love to give kisses!  She has been so patient with Cookie as well.  Cookie has actually gotten into the dog bed with Birdie a few times already!  We bought some new dog beds and Cookie made herself at home in the big bed which was intended for Birdie.  But Birdie is so easy going she just settled on the small bed.  Birdie figured out the dog door super fast and hasn’t had any accidents at all.

Birdie is such a sweet girl and we are so thankful to have her!  Thank you, thank you, thank you for bringing this sweet girl into our lives!  She has fit right in with our family!

Anna Grace (FKA Fannie Mae)

Our beautiful Anna Grace gained her angel wings just moments ago.  She has been struggling since Wednesday afternoon, unable to hold down food or water.  Our vets came to the house to examine her; it was obvious she was very ill.  She was sedated in the grass and slipped away while I told her how much she is loved, and gently washed her face with a warm wash cloth, whish was one of her favorite things.  Jude lay by her side the whole time, with his nose very close to hers.  Funny how intuitive they are.  As you might imagine, I am heartbroken, but so thankful we had the opportunity to make her world better, as she did ours.  Thank you for loving her first.

Samie

I adopted Samie when she was 18 months old from your organization.  She was listed Lab/St Bernard.  She was the junior member of my pack.  Unfortunately, she started having back pain in August.  We have been going back and forth to the vets, x-rays were taken, and a MRI was done on Tuesday.  The results to the MRI showed a tumor along her spinal cord, biopsy was completed and the results were returned today.  It was determine the tumor was Chondrosarcoma which usually effects dogs at age 6.  Samie would have been 7 in December.  I want to thank you for allowing Samie to be a part of my pack and she will be missed dearly.  Because the tumor effected the spinal cord not all would be able to be removed.  Samie was put to rest yesterday with her pack around her at home.

Happy Tails, Lila (FKA Lydia)

Lily is doing great!! She is such a joy and a perfect fit for our family.  She still loves chilling out and getting plenty of sleep, but she gets more playful and loving every day.  I think her very favorite thing are our daily walks.  I still get up early before work and take her on a morning walk and then Tyler or I take her on another walk in the evening.  Every morning when my alarm clock goes off she gets so excited because she knows that means we get to go for a walk.
